FAQ Skin & Beauty

Injectables
Do you use botox in your anti-wrinkle injections?
  • Yes we use Botox (botulinum toxin) however as it is legally classified as a prescription-only medicine (POM).
Under advertising laws, POMs cannot be directly advertised

How long does Botox last

First signs of working will be noticed after a couple of days. Full effects take up to 7 days. If necessary the Doctor will administer a 'top up' dose after 14 days. Botox lasts between 4-6 month depending on the individual

How much does Botox Cost

1 Area is €150
2 Areas €200
3 Areas €250

What happens if I get Botox over a period of time and then stop
  • Wrinkles are delayed or softened: Continuous use can prevent deeper wrinkles from forming, especially in expressive areas like the forehead or around the eyes.
Skin looks smoother longer: Because of the muscle inactivity, skin has a chance to rest, so lines and creases often stay minimised.
If you stop getting Botox you will experience a Gradual return of movement
The treated muscles will regain function slowly, usually over 3 to 6 months.
Wrinkles will come back — but not worse
Your face won’t look worse than before you started Botox.
The wrinkles will return to how they were pre-treatment or slightly softer due to muscle shrinkage or skin changes.

What are Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides used in skincare and aesthetic medicine are usually purified DNA fragments, often derived from sources like salmon or trout. Fibroblasts are the skin cells that produce collagen and elastin. Polynucleotides stimulate fibroblasts, leading to improved skin elasticity and firmness. They can neutralise free radicals which are a major cause of skin aging
Clinical use shows benefits like reduced fine lines, improved tone, scar reduction, and overall rejuvenation.

How do Polynucleotides differ from Fillers
  • The main function of fillers is to add volume and provide immediate lifting or contouring: cheeks, lips, under-eye hollows. (We usually think Botox upper face and fillers lower face).  Results are instant, visible but temporary 6-18 months
The main function of polynucleotides is to stimulate cell regeneration, collagen production skin hydration and repair.
Results are a gradual, natural improvement in skin quality, elasticity, and glow (not immediate volume).

What does retinol do?

Retinol is a form of vitamin A and one of the most well-researched and effective ingredients in skincare. It’s known for its anti-aging, acne-fighting, and skin-renewing properties.
It speeds up the rate at which your skin cells regenerate.
It helps shed old, dull skin and reveal fresher, smoother skin underneath.
It stimulates collagen production, which plumps the skin.reducing wrinkles
It softens fine lines and improves skin elasticity over time.It smooths rough ptches evens out hyperpigmentation and sunspots It helps prevent getting pores clogged with dead skin and oil
It reduces break outs and the appearance of acne scars
It is the single biggest change in skin care over the last decade.

How long does Retinol take to work?
  • Initial effects (like smoother texture): 4–6 weeks
Wrinkle reduction, pigmentation fading: 3–6 months of consistent use

What to know before using Retinol
  • Start slow: Use it 2–3 times a week and build up tolerance. Start with a low dose (Image Retinol 0.1%)
Apply at night: Retinol breaks down in sunlight.
Always wear SPF: Skin becomes more sensitive to UV exposure.
Possible irritation: Dryness, redness, peeling (especially at first). This is known as the “retinization” phase and is temporary. but can be contained by using Image encapsulated Retinol

What are the basic skin care essentials
  • A good Cleanser (AM & PM)  Removes dirt, oil, SPF, and makeup. Needs to be gentle and suited to your skin type to retain your skins natural balance.
A good Moisturizer (AM & PM) Keeps skin hydrated and protects your skin barrier.Even oily skin needs moisturizer — just choose a lighter one.
Sunscreen/SPF  (AM, daily) the most important anti-aging + protective step
Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning, even on cloudy days.

What is the difference between Spf 30 and SPF 50

Not as much as you might think

SPF Level Blocks About
SPF 30 ~97% of UVB rays
SPF 50 ~98% of UVB rays

How important are Serums

Serums are not an essential but a nice to have
They target concerns like acne, wrinkles, or dark spots. Usually higher in active ingredients. Example: vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, retinol.

How often should I exfoliate

As a general recomendation 1-3 times week
Recomendations :
Dermalogica Daiy Microfoliant/Milkfoliant (a powder exfoliant combining chemical (AHAs/BHAs) ideal for sensitive/dehydrated skin,
Yonka Gommage - a gentle luxurious hydrating gel based particle free exfoliant for sensitive dry dull skin
Epionce Lytic/Lite Lytic lotion  - a particle free 2% salycylic acid (a BHA), which penetrates pores to exfoliate and clear congestion—making it especially useful for acne-prone or congested skin and dullness
Always moisturise after exfoliating.
Avoid combining strong exfoliants with retinol or vitamin C

Other Scrubs/brushes should be used with caution - if too harsh or used too often they can irritate or damage the skin

NAILS & PEDIS
What is Biab

Biab is builder gel in a bottle - slighly stronger than Shellac so typically lasts for 3 to 5 weeks. Biab unlike Shellac can be refilled rather than just removed and applied new as with Shellac.  As with Shellac, Biab is cured in an LED lamp

Why should I not have tips/extensions with Biab

Builder gel is strong but more flexible than acrylic. Extensions are more likely to break if only builder gel is used. This potentailly results in damage to the natural nail.

Do Nails Lamps cause Sun Damage

Studies have shown that occasional use (like a salon visit every 2–3 weeks) is considered low risk. The exposure time is usually just a few minutes.
